Recently Zion’s Watchmen Free SDA Church had the privileged welcoming into the family of God, through baptism, a precious soul for whom Christ died for. This wonderful service was officiated by Pastor Evon Walker as he follows the gospel commission given to us by Christ: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 28:19.
The weather was wonderful, the water was warm, and our spirits were high. We welcome the newest member into the life life and ministry of Zion’s Watchmen Free SDA Church. We are reminded: “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
Baptism is Christ’s plan for His followers to identify with Him. It is how we publicly announce that we want to follow Him. We are confessing Jesus as our Lord and Savior and we follow Him in His death, burial and resurrection. May God keep and bless the lives of all those who commit themselves to Him.
“Christ made baptism the entrance to His spiritual kingdom. Those who receive the ordinance of baptism thereby make a public declaration that they have renounced the world, and have become members of the royal family. Those who do this are to make all worldly considerations secondary to their new relations. Publicly they have declared that they will no longer live in pride and self-indulgence. They are bound by a solemn covenant to live to the Lord.” (Our High Calling, 157).
